We custom fabricated a weather resistant stainless steel shell for this prototype sweat lodge design, an exploration of pre-fabricated modular structures.

The goal for this project was to build a seven-person sweat lodge with a hard exterior form to protect a soft interior core. The lodge tests the performance of a custom stainless steel shell (20 gauge sheet) against harsh environmental conditions to investigate the potential for the production of a pre-fabricated modular house. Rigidized® Metals partnered with a team of students and a professional craftsman to realize the project from design to construction from the ground up on a 300-acre farm in three-and-a-half days.
