Rigidized® Metals employees continually work toward an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable future.

Employee Impact

Rigidized® Metals is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.

There is no place for racism in this world. We are a family. We hold each other up, and we hold each other accountable. We believe in justice and equality. We give respect and encouragement to everyone we encounter. When you walk through the doors of Rigidized® Metals, or meet a Rigidizer on the street, you will be celebrated as one of us, with equality and respect. As family.

Rigidized® Metals employees are dedicated to improving the world around us. Through volunteer efforts, donations, events, environmental clean up initiatives, and more, we strive to leave the world better than we found it.

Employee Environmental Impact

Rigidized® Metals is always looking for way to better the environment. Not only are our products environmentally sustainable, we have used them to create a lasting impression on our local environment.

Our property houses a greenhouse to help cultivate plant life and help conservation efforts at local parks, nature preserves, and outdoor recreational areas.

Additionally, our employees routinely do environmental cleanup of our facility’s location and surrounding green areas. We have a dedicated team of employees who organize quarterly property cleanups to ensure our facility, grounds, and surrounding areas are clean and operating smoothly.

Rigidized® Metals is proud to employ a Director of Ecology to continue our sustainability efforts outside of our facility. Josh Smith maintains a 27-acre grounds area around Rigidized® Metals’ facility, as well as the neighboring ground of Silo City.

Not only does our Director of Ecology do routine maintenance, including lawn mowing, snow plowing, and general landscaping, he also runs a native plant nursery for nearby parks and nature preserves. He also curates events, and organizes land art installations in collaboration with the University at Buffalo and local artists and architects.

Rigidized® Metals worked with, and sponsored, a design competition among the University at Buffalo’s Ecological Practices Research Group. Elevator B was created to house a bees nest that needed to be relocated. Rigidized® Metals Corporation worked with students on digital fabrication techniques to create custom perforated deep textured panels in six different designs, allowing for a unique and complex design while simplifying workflow. Hexagonal panels went from relatively open designs to completely opaque, allowing panels to create a beautiful interplay of solid and void. Learn more about this project, here.

Rigidized® Metals’ wooden skids are recycled through our partner, Neville Manufacturing, who contracts with Willow Creek Family Farm out of Clarence, NY. There, they ground up our used skids to make wood chips for animal and playground bedding. In 2023, Willow Creek pulled out 15 loads of used pallets from Rigidized® Metals, which equates to about one per month.

Employee Social Impact

Rigidized® Metals employees are always willing to volunteer and donate their time and resources in times of need. We’ve contributed to such initiatives as Sleep in Heavenly Peace, seasonal food drives, fill-the-backpack drives, and more. Additionally, we are always willing to volunteer at local events and activities to help bring awareness and funding to various social organizations within our community.

Employee Economical Impact

Rigidized® Metals employees strive to engage in practices that support long-term economic growth without negatively impacting social, environmental and cultural aspects of the community. One of our biggest initiatives has been going “paperless”. While not eliminating paper use entirely, from 2016 to today, we’ve reduced our paper use by nearly 75%.

Additionally, annually, Rigidized® Metals donates to nearly 50 local businesses and organizations. We donate, sponsor, and further support growth initiatives throughout our community to help our fellow small businesses thrive. These organizations range from small business, to non-profits geared toward helping the community, tying economic, social and environmental sustainability together to make our community a better place overall.

Community Outreach

Today, Rigidized® Metals proudly supports several local community organizations, including Western New York Land Conservancy and the Western New York Sustainable Business Roundtable, as well as educational programs and local artists. By supporting neighboring businesses, individuals and organizations, we are extending our familial ties and boosting our local economy. Be it financially, resourcefully or personally, we can all succeed by lifting each other up and working together to make an impact in our community.

In addition to local support, our collaboration efforts are constantly evolving. By collaborating with universities and artists, the possibilities of our products with their ever evolving ideas is endless, with innovative product and project ideas originating right here in our own back yard.

Our employees are proud to represent Rigidized® Metals to ensure our community is safe, clean and well taken care of.
